Entendre
In the PETITES BRUTES series, the artwork "ENTENDRE" unfolds as a sensitive archiving of a moment of rupture. On a precarious support of magazine paper, an abstract oil pastel drawing showcases a fragile equilibrium: four misshapen, oval masses stretch vertically—three white and one pink—while a single black mass, isolated horizontally, sits apart without ever touching the others. Added to this composition is a worn ribbon, stapled asymmetrically, its off-center knot serving as a silent witness to a memorized event.
This vertical assemblage gives a physical presence to the pain and precariousness of childhood memories. The layout of the organic masses seems to bear the weight of a captured word, a suspended presence, while the worn ribbon attempts to bear witness to this painful moment, anchoring absence amidst the world's harshness. Between the spontaneous pictorial gesture and the wound of the metal stapling the material, the artwork becomes the vessel for an intimate echo that refuses to fade.
