Virginia Woolf: The Essence of une galerie à soi.

Virginia Woolf is the author of A Room of One's Own. It is one of my bedside books. Une galerie à soi is a title directly inspired by this work.

In A Room of One's Own, Woolf invites us to create a room of our own, to define our own space for fulfillment, to develop our creative universe. As an artist, this need for affirmation is essential. This book is a hymn to the struggle against doubt; Une galerie à soi is an echo of these words.

The idea for my gallery came to me when I captured the essence of her words, when I could truly understand the importance of the "room." She observed that upon entering a room, one feels the presence of the person who lives there. The parallel between the room, the artist's studio, and the gallery is that the artist's creative force can be perceived everywhere in these places. Materials, works, words, colors, or objects embody the mental space where we create. I wanted to share these imprints that make my gallery or my studio an essential creative ground in my life.

If I were to go further, I would say that the room in Virginia Woolf's work seems to be the one we all have inside of us. For her, to create is to observe oneself and explore this "inside." This intimate space is a mysterious place that defines the unique vision artists hold regarding society, others, the environment, life, or death.
